The footballing world has been buzzing over the last few days over a report by AS Roma that suggests Juventus may be set to make a late move for Inter Milan striker Alessandro Nesta.
Nesta has been linked with a return to Italy with Inter this summer, and could end up joining the Bianconeri on loan.
However, the Biancocelesti have been told by the player’s representatives that a deal is unlikely to be agreed, and he could instead choose to sign a new contract with Juventus.
According to a report in La Repubblica, Inter are keen to take advantage of Nesta’s transfer to get their hands on him, and have already begun negotiations with Roma over a deal.
However Nesta could instead join Juventus in the summer, with Juventus keen to cash in on their forward options, and the club are said to be keen to offer him a new deal as well.
According the report, Juventus are prepared to offer €5.5m plus bonuses for Nesta, but have made it clear that they will not let him leave, so his current deal with Inter expires at the end of the season.
This is a major blow for the Biancos, who are now set to have to make do with a player they have struggled to find since Alessandro Del Piero left the club.
