Free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick is reportedly in negotiations to re-sign with the San Francisco 49ers.

The veteran quarterback will become the second quarterback in NFL history to rejoin the 49ers after being released by the Chicago Bears.

Kaepernick has reportedly spent the last several days preparing for his potential re-joining the 49er organization and signing a contract with the team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported Friday that the team was working to finalize a deal with Kaepernick’s agent, Jimmy Sexton.

Kaepernick has previously played for the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Giants.

In a tweet Friday, Sexton confirmed the news.

Kaepernick is a free agent after the 2016 season.

Kapri has a $14.5 million base salary and a $11.1 million signing bonus.

He has completed two seasons with the Bears and is entering the final year of his contract.

The veteran quarterback was released by Chicago earlier this offseason after failing to make the playoffs.
